livestep
step sequencer suited for drums. spits out midi notes for use with live's internal synths and samplers, vstis or external devices. features hands-on control of step sequencer playback position, similar to mlr.
requires ableton live 6, cycling 74 max (free runtime version is fine) and a midi routing utility, such as midi yoke on win xp.
usage
top row buttons 1-6 switches between sequencer pages where rows below act as step toggles.
top row button 7 switches to playback position page where rows act as playback position. top row button 8 is a mod button reserved for future use.
how to start sequencer -
switch to the playback position page by pressing the seventh button on the top row of the monome. hit a button on the second row. if everything is working properly step sequencer now starts and you can see leds on this page reflect playback position. led moving on row 2 means the playback position is in the first page, row 3 = second page, and so on.
how to enter notes -
switch to the first page of the step sequencer by hitting the top leftmost button on the monome. press buttons on rows 2-7 to toggle steps. as playback position bar moves across the page sounds are triggered in the operator instrument in channel 3.
